2025 OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Training

This course explains the mandatory safety and health standards required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. It provides the knowledge and skills necessary to protect yourself and others from bloodborne pathogens in the workplace.

Course Description

The course focuses on topics relevant to the following occupations:

  • Skin Care Professionals: Estheticians, electrologists, spa technicians
  • Spa Business Owners responsible for employee safety
  • Healthcare Professionals at risk of exposure (e.g., doctors, nurses, dermatologists)
  • Tattoo Artists working with needles and inks
  • Custodial Staff handling waste and cleaning in healthcare or spa environments

Here you will learn about the essentials of bloodborne pathogens, including their workplace risks and how to prevent exposure, are explored. Practical methods to minimize hazards, including the proper selection and use of PPE are discussed. Lessons cover the importance of maintaining a clean, safe environment and the critical role of vaccinations, especially hepatitis B, in protecting workers. Finally, response to incidents, how to communicate potential risks, and comply with OSHA’s recordkeeping requirements are discussed.

By the end of the course, you'll be confident in recognizing risks and minimizing exposure to bloodborne pathogens. You'll understand what your employer must do to keep you safe and how to respond to incidents if they happen.
